I solve problems for a living.
As a computer science teacher, I spend every day helping young people think through hard problems, debug what’s broken, and build something that actually works.
That’s exactly what good governance looks like.
Coach. Mentor. Community presence.
I’ve coached swimming, football, tennis, volleyball, esports, basketball, and soccer.
“Leadership isn’t about yelling the loudest. It’s about showing up, preparing well, and putting the team first.”
When students win, the whole community wins.
About Spencer
I teach computer science. Before that, I taught English and History.
I’ve spent my career in classrooms and on fields — not in political back rooms.
I’ve coached since I graduated high school because I believe young people rise to the level of the expectations we set for them.
My wife and I are raising our family here in District 16. This isn’t a stepping stone. It’s home.
I’m running because I see what’s happening in our schools, our workforce, and our communities — and I know we can do more for District 16 families.
What I’m Focused On
Strong Public Schools
As a teacher, I see what works — and what doesn’t.
- Competitive teacher pay that keeps great educators in Alabama — not driving them across state lines
- Career and technical pathways that connect students to real local jobs
- Less political theater in classrooms and more focus on learning
Schools should prepare kids for life — not be battlegrounds for adults.
Good Jobs & Smart Growth
We can grow industry without wrecking our land and water. District 16 deserves:
- Workforce training aligned to real employer needs
- Support for small businesses and entrepreneurs
- Responsible development that protects property values and natural resources
Growth and conservation are not opposites. They require balance and leadership.
Accountable Leadership
If elected, I will publish a simple public monthly report explaining every vote in plain English:
- What I voted for — and why
If I can’t explain my vote clearly to the people who sent me to Montgomery, I shouldn’t be casting it.

What I’m Hearing Across District 16
I hear it at ballgames.
I hear it in grocery store aisles.
I hear it from parents after practice.
These aren’t partisan issues.
They’re what every neighbor is asking for.
Why I’m Running
I’ve coached long enough to know:
Teams don’t win because they shout the loudest. They win because they prepare, communicate, and execute.
Alabama doesn’t need more noise. We need steady leadership focused on results.
We built our life here.
Kim and I didn’t end up in District 16 by accident. We chose it. We stayed. We started a family here.
That’s not a talking point. That’s our life — and it’s exactly why I’m running.
Rooted in community.
Faith isn’t a campaign talking point for our family. It’s how we were raised, how we’re raising our kids, and how we show up for our neighbors.
That sense of responsibility to something bigger than yourself — that’s what I’m bringing to Montgomery.
My Promise
I will be available. I will listen. I will never forget who sent me to Montgomery.
This campaign is about representation, not ego.
If you trust me with this responsibility, I will work every day to earn it.
